![]() draw power to the circuit from a hot wire that has power when the car is running only. Idea is to insert 2 prongs into the coolant reservoir cap and keep them in place with JB Weld, then make a simple low current circuit that will send a signal to a piezo buzzer loud enough to be heard in the car to avoid having to drill into the firewall. ![]() So I'm planning of making a simple coolant sensor connected to a piezo buzzer, but don't want to power it directly to the battery as want it to work only when car running, I think it would be simple and a good weekend project, anyone already got one made? if so can you share how you made it. I was just on my way out when a warning light lit up on the dash. If it wasn't for that I'd be stranded or end up with overheating engine smh. Welcome to the club of smiles by the way. It's beyond me why would they not bother to include a simple coolant level sensor into this car, I almost got stranded with almost no coolant left if it wasn't for me checking it during a trip when I smelled antifreeze, fortunately I had some extra in the trunk knowing these cars have issues with cooling system. I'm going to have some expense myself on Monday as mine goes into the shopįor transmission service next week sometime. Need replacing it is not an expensive part, considering other things in our coolant system Reattach the connector to the tank sensor, making sure it is tight, check forĪny signs of wire nicks or anything eaten by furry little animals. I would know about lengthy posts here on the forum. It works sort of- could be a bad sensor or connector? That is not giving you a read out? You know it does work by the 196-198 reading you Order, no other issues with the DIC read outs- just the temperature only Your fan is running, your thermostat appears to be in good working If more water is added to raise the coolant level to keep the light off, you can leave it this way or remove. The coolant low level light turning on and turning off after the engine warms up a little would suggest coolant is expanding to raise the float higher hence the light turning off. I could not find a specific fuse dedicated to the coolant reservoir sensorĮither. Try adding coolant or water above the fill line and see. Intermittent display readout- bad connection or ground maybe? Good thing is your not over heating or losing coolant. If the low coolant light comes back soon, it is time to have it looked at by your dealer. Symptoms of the P0128 code include an illuminated check engine light, longer warm-ups, and significantly decreased engine temperatures while driving on a highway. With the engine totally cool, add dexcool coolant to the overflow tank to bring it up to the level indicated as 'cool' in the owners manual. Any suggestions on find one economically?OTE] Low coolant levels, a stuck engine coolant thermostat, and issues with the coolant temperature sensor or its wiring can cause code P0128. Jumped the switch and the light went out. My apologies for the lengthly post.Īlso would anyone know if the level switch in the coolant reservoir have a dedicated fuse? It was suggested that may be the low coolant warning culprit but the fuse panel diagram does not show a fuse labeled as such.įound the problem with low coolant light. Something is obviously still not right - even though youve taken some positive steps. Monday I plan to take both to Geek Squad and let them sort out the incompatibles. Any suggestions where to start troubleshooting? I bought the service manual CD but so far I haven't got it to play on my computer. Once the temp displayed correctly for a brief time and it showed 196-198. Code PO128 comes up that is supposed to indicate low coolant temp. The coolant temperature displays 000 constantly although the engine appears and feels to be running at normal temp. The reservoir is serviced correctly and does not appear to be loosing coolant. ![]() What I think it is.is the TTS sensor is the original one, which I THINK is OEM Plastic, and when I had the accident, the impact, MOST LIKELY cracked the tip, resulting in a malfunction. One being the low coolant light is on all the time. When I started the SW2 this morning, I watched to see if the 'Low Coolant Light' did the bulb did. Nothing major so far but lots of small issues to run down. The simple solution for this is to gently wack the reservoir with a rubber mallet until the light goes out. The light may not go off when the coolant level is full. I recently bought a 09 base with the usually amount of bugs that I am working through. Check the coolant level in the reservoir when the engine is cold. Hi all, I am new to the Sky experience and so far it looks to be a lot of fun.
